Bear came into my life March 2, 1998, as he and his brother strolled through my yard. I asked Mary, who lives across the street, if she knew who these puppies belonged to. So we walked them around the block and found the owner. The owner asked if she wanted one. Mary took Bear and I said I'd take the black one, but she said the black one was her daughters. About a week passed and Mary asked if I could take Bear because the landlord said she could not have him in the apartment. So my life began with Bear. He was a very strange eater. I bought every kind of dog food on the market and then I bought Pro Plan. He liked it and so that ended the problem of his food. Of course he would much rather have people food. I think that's what they fed him as a pup. Beat loved to ride in the van. He loved going to Tammy's house and to Jackies in the summer for the pool parties with the dogs. Once Chelsea threw Bear in the pool, he was frightened to death. He never would go in. At Christmas he would have a great time at Tammy's with the dogs and Christmas Eve at Jackie's with Sadie and Toby. All the dogs would be there, Shaney, Sadie, Toby and Bear. Bear loved to ride in the truck with Tom. They were like a boy and his dog. Tom loved to take Bear to the groomers and pick him up. That was his greatest pleasure, just to have Bear beside him. Everyday Bear looked for the white truck. Tom died and Bear was so sad. He would always stand at the door around 3:00 PM waiting and no Tom. And so Bear and I started going to Pet Smart. That was fun seeing all the dogs. And so each month he would go to the groomers at Pet Smart which was a real treat. The one place that Bear didn't like to go was the Vets. He would shake himself to death. The one day in April of 2007 he got sick. He had bladder cancer and was given 6 months to live. Bear lasted 9 months. And so on this day time for him ended as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge into doggie heaven where he is free of pain and sickness. As sick as he was the past month he always stayed by my side protecting me. Whoever came Bear would always be in the middle. I would always say its okay. Not for Bear. He thought he was my protector and he was. Even New Years Eve as I was getting ready, someone was outside, and Bear was telling me, it was hard for him to bark, and whoever left the yard. Bear had a great life spoiled to the core. Life without him will be tough. And I say how will I live without you? You've been here so long and now you are gone, leaving a empty space in my life. I will always love you, you were one of a kind. There will never be another Bear. Love you, P.S. Bears biggest love was his cat CoCo who slept with him on his bed in the living room. How they would push each other to make room, it was just a funny sight to see. CoCo passed away in July 2007 and sometimes Bear would weep for her He loved to be with Jon when he was young. He loved to play hide and seek when I would come home from work. He just loved to walk around with his dog bone in his mouth. He thought he was so cute. |
