The Piglet Story Piglet, an adorable Guinea Pig, was given to me as a gift. I had returned from a trip to Tennessee. While there I had found a cat, that had been injured and I brought him home with me to take to a vet. When I got to the vet he said that the cat, tentatively named Tennessee, has been in a fight with a dog and was paralyzed. He said that it was mosy humane to have him put to sleep. I took the advise of the vet but was devastated. My little sister, who worked a part time job at a pet store at the time, brought home a baby Guinea Pig and a cage. I had never thought of having one as a pet and was unfamiliar with them but had also never found a pet I didn't fall for. Piglet and I became close quickly. He would always squeal to greet me when I came in the room. He would "purr" when I would bring him orange slices, broccoli, or any other fresh treat. When his water bottle would get low he would let me know by taking it and banging it against the side wall of his huge tank. He was highly tolerant of the dogs and cats. He even tolerated his nail trims with class! Despite the 5 year life expectancy Piglet, "the Big Boy", was a part of the family for 8 years. He and his quirky and loving personality, will be loved and missed forever! |
